Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung is the second largest city of Taiwan, home to nearly 2 million people and the 3rd largest port in the world. If it enters or leaves Taiwan, it probably moves through Kaohsiung seaport.

Kaohsiung, while definitely tropical, is blessed with an ocean breeze which serves to moderate the heat and humidity. It is characterized by broad palm-lined boulevards and the dominant feature of the city is the Love River, which flows through the city.

Even though the heart of the city is heavily commercialized ( including some of the best seafood restaurants in Taiwan) and the seaport is highly industrialized, Kaohsiung is only a stone's throw from some of the finest beaches to be found in Asia

Additionally, the cost of living and housing is definitely lower than in Taipei, and despite this, many more modern (and western) conveniences are now available in Kaohsiung, including a number of nightclubs and other entertainment venues (including a dazzling number of movie theatres).
