How Much Will I Make?
As you gain experience, there are incremental raises based on performance, sum of hours taught, and returning student rates. An average teacher can expect their first raise to come about 6 months after they have started working, and their second raise at about the end of their first year. For teachers who continue with our company, there are continuing incremental raises. Our standard hourly contract requires a teacher to work up to 18hrs/week during most of the year and up to 30 hours per week during our busy summer season. Most of our teachers, however, work between 20 and 30 hours per week. For your first 183 days (about six months) in Taiwan, the Taiwan Government will withhold 20% of
your earnings. After that, your earnings will be withheld at 10%. You will get back about 14% of your earnings at tax time provided your first arrival date is July 1 or earlier in a calendar year. (However, if for some reason
you are unable to stay 183 days in a calendar year, you will forfeit all of your taxes to the Taiwan Government.) |
