Taiwan has a wide assortment of organized team sports and endless possibilities for active sports lovers.

Organized Sports
Baseball is the biggest team sport in Taiwan and it's always possible to go out and catch a game over the weekend. As a cultural experience, don't miss the chance to go to one even if you aren't a die hard baseball fan. Taiwan fans are very vehement in their support of their teams. Earplugs are recommended as there are many air horn vendors around the stadiums selling these earsplitting devices. Taiwan baseball is every bit as complex and the level of play as high as in the US. Remember that Taiwan's little league team is the winningest team in the history of the Little League World Series and still are perennial favorites to end up in the Series.

Basketball is also becoming more and more popular, and some pretty good games can be seen.

Individual Sporting Activities

Bowling alleys are reasonably priced and are located in every city and town. There are many Scuba Diving clubs, but most are located in Southern Taiwan. Taipei has a few, but most of their trips will take you to the south, where it is warmer anyway. If you have your own equipment, it's not too expensive, but if you have to rent, you'll have to dig deeply. There are some pretty good diving sites around Taiwan, but the water, except in the summer months is usually pretty chilly. If you are a serious scuba diver, trips can be easily made to nearby Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines where the diving is awesome. Mountain Climbing is easily done all over Taiwan, and trails exist for the novice to expert.

Public athletic fields and courts are widely available and many of our schools are located nearby so you can continue to workout or exercise as may be your custom.
